Monuments


Lanciano has nineteen important churches. Among these, the first to visit is the cathedral of the Madonna del ponte, whose construction, adjacent the Diocletian bridge, started in 1300. Remarkable also Santa Maria Maggiore, with gothic forms and  a Romanesque portal. Baroque style for the lateral altars of San Francesco, where is saved  the Eucharistic miracle, whereas on the ruins of the Lucina temple was built in 1200 the Santa Lucia church.
The monument considered the most ancient is the church of San Biagio, built roughly in the year one thousand. There are however many other historical sites to visit in the old town, as the Montanare Tours, The Borgo Fountain, the Civitanova Fountain, the diocesan museum.

Music


In the summer, the association “Fedele Fenaroli” organizes the Estate musicale frentana, an international appointment for graduates of academies of music. In July and August is formed the International juvenile Orchestra, which is directed by important conductors and gives concerts from the whole symphonic repertoire. Two concerts a day are previewed, in the afternoon and in the evening, in the suggestive scenario of the auditorium under the roman bridge Diocletian.
