The sea


Lanciano is also summer and sea. Few minutes are necessary to go smoothly downhill to the coast of the uncontaminated Adriatic sea. It is possible to choose the golden sand of Casalbordino,
the big waves of Torino di Sangro, the pebble beach of Fossacesia and San Vito Chietino or the large sand beaches in Ortona. In any case the coast road is marked by numerous restaurants of seafood in the Abruzzo’s cooking style.
The mountains


Due to the Maiella group nearby, Lanciano is a great starting point for winter sport activities and trekking. Lovers of  high mountain can reach 2200 meters at the Blockhouse and visit the refuge built at the time of brigands.
The region offers many possibilities, from the excursion in the woods of Rosello, to shopping in Guardiagrele
(cupper and ironwork), or else the grotto of stalagmites and stalactites, well known as “the Iorio’s daughter”,
which inspired the novel by Gabriele D’Annunzio.
